Writing skills are the part of the exam where you produce English rather than merely recognise it. In BCS (written), Bank (AD/Senior Officer/Officer), and IT-officer recruitment, a large block of marks comes from translation (Bangla to English and English to Bangla), paragraph/essay/composition, precis, application and formal letters, emails, short reports, and increasingly a CV/resume. These carry heavy marks and are fully within your control: unlike a tricky grammar MCQ, a well-structured letter or a clean translation earns predictable marks every time. This lesson teaches the technique and the fixed formats so you can score reliably.
Learning objectives
- Translate Bangla to English and English to Bangla accurately, keeping meaning, tense and register intact.
- Recognise and avoid the most common translation pitfalls (word-for-word rendering, idiom mistakes, tense/number errors).
- Write a coherent paragraph with a topic sentence, supporting details and a closing sentence.
- Structure an essay or composition into introduction, body and conclusion with logical paragraphing.
- Recall precis-writing rules and compress a passage to about one-third length.
- Reproduce, from memory, the exact layout of a formal application, a condolence letter, a cover letter, a formal email, a short report and a CV.
- Choose the correct register (formal vs informal) for each task.
