Introduction — what this topic is and why it matters
"Static General Knowledge" is the part of GK that does not change from year to year: the fact that the modern Olympics began in 1896, that a cricket Test lasts up to five days, that World Environment Day is 5 June, or that Bangladesh's national game is Kabaddi. These facts are the highest return-on-effort portion of any competitive exam (BCS Preliminary, Bank recruitment, and IT-officer written/MCQ). One clean fact = one guaranteed mark, with no calculation and no reasoning error.
This lesson covers three tightly-linked clusters that examiners love:
- Sports — players per team, field/venue terms, major tournaments, hosts and winners (football, cricket, Olympics), and Bangladesh sports.
- Important Days — national and international observances, their exact dates, and why they exist.
- Cultural GK — national symbols, awards, festivals, folk culture, and heritage of Bangladesh and the world.
Exams rarely ask "explain" here; they ask recall — a precise date, a single winner, a "first" or a "number." So the study method is different from a reasoning subject: build compact, cross-linked tables, drill the "firsts" and the "hosts/winners," and revise repeatedly. This lesson gives you the facts and the memory hooks.
Source note: sports results and hosts are verified against ICC, FIFA, IOC/Olympics.com and Wikipedia; observance dates against the UN and Government of Bangladesh sources. Any figure that is time-sensitive (next host, most-recent winner) is marked so you can re-check before your exam.
