Introduction
In Bangla grammar, Pod Prokoron (পদ প্রকরণ) is the chapter that classifies the words of a sentence into grammatical categories according to the role each word plays. The term পদ (pod) literally means a "word-in-a-sentence": a বর্ণ becomes a শব্দ (word) in the dictionary, and a শব্দ becomes a পদ the moment it enters a sentence and takes a বিভক্তি (case/verb ending) to connect with the other words.
This topic is one of the highest-yield areas of the Bangla Language portion of BCS, bank, and IT-officer examinations. Almost every exam asks you to identify the type of pod of an underlined word, to name the sub-class of a noun/pronoun/adjective, or to distinguish a সমাপিকা from an অসমাপিকা verb. Because the rules are finite and stable, a student who masters this chapter can score these marks with near certainty. This lesson builds the whole system from first principles so you can classify any word in any sentence.
